Susan Moon

Name:    Susan Moon
Organization:    Everyday Zen
Lineage:    Suzuki Roshi
Susan Moon started practicing at the Berkeley Zen Center 35 years ago, and has practiced at Tassajara and Green Gulch as well, (where she was shuso in 1996). Berkeley is still her home temple, but she now practices primarily with Zoketsu Norman Fischer’s Everyday Zen Sangha. She received lay entrustment from Norman in 2005 and she takes a leadership and teaching role in Everyday Zen. She regularly visits various sanghas as a guest dharma teacher, and she also teaches writing-and-meditation workshops and retreats in venues such as Spirit Rock and Tassajara.
Her new book, This Is Getting Old: Zen Thoughts on Aging with Humor and Dignity was published in 2010 by Shambhala Publications. In collaboration with Florence Caplow, a priest with Everyday Zen, she is currently compiling and editing a collection of Zen koans and teaching stories about women, with commentaries by contemporary women teachers.
